Big Red, a new journal
Started a new journal from an old ledger from 1993, used by furniture store, then a kid drawing journal and now I am going to use it for a visual art journal.

Orange Peel Orange, a mixed media journal.
I'm making small mixed media books, each with a dominate color scheme, this is orange. Acrylic paint, crayons, pencils, painted papers, tape, found scraps, etc. all the good stuff. My intention is that when I finish the primary and secondary color books, I will put them all together in one large book.
For the black and white leaf shapes I painted the black lines on with pine needles & acrylic paint.

More Color Wheel Designs
This is one of my journals that I made to carry art materials. I always find the color wheel as more than a tool but is a element of design.
This a page from another journal, heavy weight water color paper and Golden Fluid acrylics
Book cover made from canvas with acrylic paint and sharpies.
A portrait using the color wheel as inspiration. Everything is mixed media with layers of paint, collage and drawing materials.

Make your own Pocket Color Wheel
I purchased a bag of tags at a second hand store, I think they are retail tags or something, I like the text on them. I like to make different kinds of color wheels or use the color wheel as a design element. This one is pocket color wheel.
I started with the primary colors that I use when I paint, magenta, primary yellow and cyan blue. Then mixed and painted the primary, secondary and tertiary colors onto the tags. You can see more of the color wheel information in my book.
I then painted tints of each color on a sheet of sticky dots. I then applied the dots to each of the colors.
Don't throw away the paper plate palette after you are done with your wheel. I blended the colors and then wiped some of the color off with a baby wipe. I will use this plate for collage.

To create the wheel all you have to do is attach all the tags together with a paper brad. Make sure to arrange the tags in the correct order of the color wheel.
You can move the tags around to try out different color combinations.

Paint Brush Cover
Don't throw away those old crusty paint brushes. I painted and stamped this old paint brush and attached it to one of my journals. The journal is a project I do quite often, I take apart old hard bound books and recover them with my painted canvas. I added the pages with a pamphlet stitch and colored and waxed thread. You can find this project in my book. Very simple and easy to do.
I attached the brush after I covered the front with a little bit of heavy black thread and some gorilla glue, then I added the inside cover canvas to cover up the tied treads.
