No. 3 book Giveaway!

Please leave a comment on your current art obsession, it could be a book, an artist, a technique, or a medium. Then I will draw a third winner to receive a copy of my book, Acrylic Techniques in Mixed Media, Layer, Scribble, Stencil, Stamp.
I thought I would share my 5 year old Grandson's favorite art obsession, fold-overs! Remember these? Fold and piece of paper in half, drop some paint on it, fold it together again and then open it back up. You never know what you are going to get. To date, Phoenix has made about forty of these at my house. Yesterday he made a couple of really large one's with the addition of spray ink. I think the large piece's will look great framed.

  2. My current obsession is smudging white acrylic paint on top of watercolor paintings to create an ethereal look. You can see an example here: http://marciabeckett.blogspot.com/2013/03/ponies-on-my-artwork.html

  3. Making layers with paint, bottle caps, sequin scrap, pizza wheels & Karen d'arche pastels. It's using techniques I learned at Artfest from Lynn Perrella & Anahata Katkin. I love using & reusing things I've learned in various classes over the years. I do large sheets of backgrounds & then randomly cut them up. No two pices are the same.

  8. My name is Gini and I'm a washi addict, tape that is. I love using it to frame a picture in a collage, decorate mail art, fancify my planner, use as backgrounds for page numbers in letters, decorate boxes and everything else, and use to tape in pages in journals. I suspect I will quickly become addicted to the Gelli once I get time to play with it. Your book looks like fun-spiration.

  9. While I love watercolor, I have been obsessed with Zendangle doodles. So... I flood my paper with every color in my watercolor box, let it dry and then, doodle all over it. It has been so much fun!

  10. I'm currently in love with my new gelli plate (like a lot people, judging by these comments!) ... and while I have a lot to learn about it, my new "favourite" thing to do with it is to add a layer of white or off-white paint to pull up the last remaining dregs of colour left after multiple prints have been pulled. It seems to reactivate the dried paint and I get these lovely ghosty patterns and colours on a light background which make great backgrounds to write or stamp text on. Good luck to whoever wins this copy of Roxanne's book!

  12. Okay you said comment again, so I am!

This past week I went over to Penelope's house (your last book winner) and played with her gelli plate. I ended up printing for 6 1/2 hours and turning out 80 pages! (with a fractured wrist, no less!) To say it's addictive is an understatement! Now I need to get one for myself.

If you'd like to see some of my pages, they are here:http://tatterededge.blogspot.ca/

  15. I'm currently obsessed with painting with a silicon spatula I salvaged from a kitchen clean-out. It's great for dragging paint around and playing with transparency. Plus, it's a snap to clean.

  17. my scanner - I am into scanning some of the old old ephemera that has surfaced in a huge Estate Sale that I've been running for an older friend. Hate to just "use up" those old ads and magazines, so scanning them and using the laser printer at my local library has been a life saver-
