Book Giveaway!

How exciting!!!!! I just got a shipments of my books. Now I have to figure out how to do a book give away on this blog. Anybody have any good ideas? I was thinking to ask folks to leave a comment on their favorite mixed media technique and then when I get  about 20 comments, have a drawing and give a book away. But I am open to suggestions................

  3. Yes! Have readers leave a comment about their favorite mixed media technique and that way we learn from the comments as well. Congrats on the book! Hope I win one.
My favorite technique is rubber stamping tissue paper and then mod-podging it onto my piece.

  4. Gee I'm liking the header Roxanne - my girlfriend just put little slips of paper with everyone's name on them in a coffee mug and pulled one out for her drawings - not too scientific, but it worked!

I love the style of your work and am looking forward to owning your book. I am still working through my notes from your first Artfest classes, and I am still glad to have taken all of them that year!

I really like putting empty address label stickers on a blank background and roughly painting over the bumpy surface with acrylic paints and a credit card. It makes really interesting textures to work with.

  5. However you´ll do it, I´d be more than interested! My favourite technique is sanding collaged pieces and then painting over them, I think.

  6. My favorite techniques involve using masks and using deli paper in all sorts of way (stamping on it, using it as tracing paper, doing gelli prints on it, doing crayon or Paintstik rubbings on it, etc.). I then incorporate it into my art journal or into canvas collages. I just bought your book today at a local chain bookstore. I picked it up and started reading it and just had to take it home with me. The book is awesome and teaches so many new techniques I want to try. Great purchase! Now, if I could win a copy, it would be a great gift for my creative friend and partner in getting our hands dirty! Thank you!

  7. My favorite jumpstarts are to photocopy old journal pages, cut them up and glue them down to start with a splash of color.

  8. Congratulations on the book Roxie!
I usually have my art journal pages started with leftover paint from other pages, so then I just go with flow when I get to start a page.

  9. Your book is on my amazon wish list! My favorite mixed media technique (today) is acrylic/watercolor/old book page/tissue paper/spray ink with white wash when dry, then a drawing on top.

  13. Wow that looks like an amazing book. Congrats. I found I really like getting my fingering in the acrylic paint, and I have to have swirls in almost everything with all different mediums. Love layering with napkins and tissue paper.
