Please leave a comment about your favorite mixed media technique, when I get 20 comments, I will draw names to see who the lucky winner is! 6 folks have already commented, see the previous post. Some really good ideas, thanks for sharing everyone.
One of my favorite techniques is to begin most things with a scribble, this is a scribble begun by a couple of my Grand kids. I never met a scribbled line I didn't like, it is the visual representation of physical energy. This paper will now receive several different layers of mixed media techniques.
You're very generous to offer a chance to win a copy of your new book. My favorite thing to do is stamping. I like to use paints and/or stamp pads and textural things like bubble plastic, sponge brushes, and commercial texture stamps.

thanks for the chance to win your new book. I like to use stencils and acrylic paint. I have taken several of your classes at Artfest and know your book is fabulous.

ReplyDeletespray paint and stencils!
ReplyDeleteWhat, pick a favourite, boy that's a bit hard, I like them all, I use them all depending on my mood. My most used at the moment is stencils and spray inks. Some look so good it takes me months to actually work over them LOL
ReplyDeleteHi Diane, you are the winner of my book! Send me your address to my e-mail and I will send you a copy of my book this week.

Thanks for the give-away and getting a chance to discover your blog! My favorite technique is using scrunched tissue paper as a base for texture.
ReplyDeleteTough since I don't have many techniques under my belt. I'd like to use stencils a bit more though I think. Would love to get my hands on a copy of your book!
ReplyDeleteI adore sewing on painted fabric and gelli printed papers. Just the opportunity to win one of your books would be OVER THE TOP fabulous! Thanks for all your inspiration!
ReplyDeleteYarn, where it doesn't belong. Like on metal. The texture conflict is delightful.
ReplyDeleteI like layers and layers. One of my favorites is a scrapping a layer of paint on (dark or light), letting it dry then scrapping the opposite color (light or dark) on top then using a clean, wet brush to paint circles on top of the slightly wet top layer and scrapping off the paint to reveal the first layer that pops against the top color.
ReplyDeleteI am a technique junkie but a simple and effective one spray mists and glad wrap in a low oven for a minute or two. This create a totally random scrunched pattern. It looks awesome
ReplyDeleteI like making backgrounds with acrylic, with lots of marks on it like bubble wrap, stamps that I make, etc. then I look at it and se if there's a figure in it that I can bring to life! Patsy.paterno (at) gmail.com
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your book!!
ReplyDeleteWould love to win!
Right now, my favorite mixed-media techniques are layering old book pages with stencils in my paintings!
I am new to mixed media. I love it. Been collaging all of my life. Couldn't wait until mom was done with the Sears catalog every Fall. Magically delicious papers to cut. Of course now its so dreamy with all the wonderful products and teachers out there. Your book looks Fab!
ReplyDeleteI have to pick just one?? OK, It would have to be using stencils and water to make faded back grounds called Ghosting? Thanx for a chance to receive your book, Roxanne!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite technique would have to be anything with stencils - spraying paint, scraping gesso or moulding paste through them, wiping off paint through them.
ReplyDeleteI would love to win a copy of your book. Thanks for the opportunity.
This is great! Would really love to win a copy of your book. Fingers crossed!!! I really love combining embroidery and stitching with collaged images and stencils. It adds great texture.
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome book. I love incorporating gesso, paint, sprays to create wonderful work of art.
ReplyDeleteFound objects are my favorite things to use. Especially anything rusty or cardboard.

I always start my pages with a layer of gesso, then add torn strips of music sheet or newspaper. I then add a blob of texture paste and stamp a foam stamp image into it. From there, sky's the limit to what I add. Whatever comes to mind really.
ReplyDeleteim a glue stick and paper kinda girl!! but love fluid acrylics too!

I wasn't able to comment earlier. Slow computer. i love paper, acrylics, stamping, a little of it all! I just love trying new things in art. Thanks for all of the posts and your new book! Cindy Sikes
ReplyDeleteI am using all kind of fun stuff i can find. In the nature I collekt all kind of stuff. when I go shopping I always have my eyes open for fun things. I Collekt all I can that can be used as a stamp or stencil.
ReplyDeleteI love the way that so many different mediums play nicely together. One of my favourite techniques though has got to be brayering - it's an oldie but a goodie and it forgives all and let's you transition layers so nicely.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win!
Color wash with stencils on fabric!
ReplyDeleteI use molding paste on all my canvases. Love texture
ReplyDeleteI just recently bought a Gelli Plate and I love playing with acrylic paint and stencils on it. I'm usually such a chicken with colour, but the Gelli Plate results are so quick that I've haven't got time to fret about all those unusual colours I'm using. And I love the quirkiness of the results ~ better than I could have "planned". I just did a blog post about it (and another one about how you inspire me, Roxanne!).
ReplyDeleteI use a lot of Squiggles fabric paint, masking tape, tissue paper, etc, in my journal pages. I'm fascintated by any technique which brings lots of texture to a piece! I would love to win your book! jacque@childressfarm.com
ReplyDeleteI love using a mixture of stitching, paint and drawing on paper - maybe with fabric and paper collage. At the moment, I'm enjoying cross stitching into my art journal over painted backgrounds.
